Whipped this up tonight after spending the day restocking my textures and photos. For some reason, I find using the laptop to make graphics feels weird and a little uncomfortable. :\ I'm considering this a practice run of sorts. I only wanted to get the feel for the setup I'll be on for the next two weeks or so. Anyway, nothing too fancy to see here, but I do hope you'll take a peek and let me know what you think! :)

Using a laptop to do graphics takes a bit of getting used to. In the beginning, I didn't have a mouse for my laptop and I was too lazy to hook up the Wacom so I just used the touchpad. Now I'm so used to using the touchpad that my new mouse hasn't left the packaging (great use of $30). What kind of system are you getting yourself setup with?

You use the touchpad? Holy CROW. I'm in awe. I have to have my mouse. I've never had a Wacom, and though I've been tempted, I'm not an artist in the painting/drawing sense, so I've managed to talk myself out of spending the $$ on it.
The system shipped today! Two days early! WOO! It's pretty basic, though compared to what I'm replacing, it's incredible. Old system had 512 MB RAM and a 160 GB hard disk. The new one is 3 GB RAM and 650 GB hard disk. And of course newer, shinier, and faster whistles and bells like a CPU that destroys the old one, better video sound cards, and 15-1 media reader and ... yeah. Compared to my old one, though, ANYTHING would be fancier. lol No monitor, but that's fine, my flat-panel is only like two years old. And I may be the only person you'll ever know who is happy to have managed to get Windows Vista 32-bit. :D

Touchpad ftw! Come on... you know you want to try it! I had really good intentions of trying my hand at digital painting, hence the Wacom. But, then I realized I would probably suck at it and have never tried. My Wacom mostly gathers dust :( Have you ever checked out the digital painting books by Ballistic Publishing. They are effin' beautiful. If only I had that sort of talent.
ZOMG. I can't believe you ran CS3 on 512. Did you like click save and walk away for 25 minutes? Sorry, not trying to knock your old system :( I just have no patience for computers. They do what I want now or I get a might bit pissy. The new system sounds niiiiiice, bet you'll be in heaven when it arrives :)

Dude... I tried the touchpad back when I first installed CS3 (I used the laptop only back then) and promptly ran out to get a wireless mouse. *hugs my mouse* You should totally try painting with the Wacom. I have every confidence you will do the very opposite of suck, miss! :D
I never really ran into memory issues that affected how CS3 ran, at least not until the last few weeks of the computer's life. I guess I was lucky and didn't even know it. :\
