woo! new skill unlocked

I've finally learned how to make animated gifs in Photoshop. SO OVERDUE. And talk about a fuckin' time-sink! :D It gets easier with each one, yeah, but still. It's taken me three days to make just four gifs, (there's a whole lot of stuffing it up going on; I keep doing things backwards :/) and there's only one I don't hate in retrospect. Total admiration for people who make these things by the boatload and make them well! Anyhoo, I had to share my first non-cringe-inducing (I hope) animated icon.

Aww, thanks! CS3 doesn't use ImageReady, though. :\ From my understanding, the functions of ImageReady were incorporated into Photoshop itself. I'm using the Scripts-->Load Files into Stacks command (sounds like the second option you mentioned) since I'm working with screencaps now.

I have the toughest time settling on a frame rate (which seems especially hard when the caps skip a lot of frames. So glad I found [livejournal.com profile] anastdean's caps for SPN. I'll totally have to look for a CS3 tut for importing video for when I can't find frame-by-frame caps.), and making sure that any image optimizations I make are applied to all layers.

Ah see I have CS2...and yeah it sounds like that's what I would do in Imageready before transfering it into Photoshop. I'm seriously amazed how much sense I made the other day...must of been a moment of clarity or something ;)

Its good you have found someone who does awesome screencaps, it does take half the work out it. Frame rate and how many pics can vary (and tricky!!)...so have fun, I can't wait to see more! If you like, I can give you the free program I use to make my own screencaps (I only do this if I have to, used for like all of my Sanctuary/Robin Dunne icons.) The file has to be .AVI and it takes a little tinkering to get the settings to what you want. But well worth it :D

Thanks for the offer! I use KMPlayer which does captures and will play pretty much any file you throw at it (it's free at http://bit.ly/Snww2); I'm just lazy and am more than happy to take advantage of someone else's work. Which is stupid, by the time I find good quality caps I'm willing to use, I could probably have made my own, lol!
