The things we block from our memories

I'm capping a Saved by the Bell episode and howling with laughter at the fashion. It's been a long, long time since I've seen any reruns, so I guess I'd forgotten just what 1990 was like, clothing wise. My god. It was AWFUL. ahahahaha!

Let's take a look at Slater's jeans. Once you get past how insanely high-waisted they are (!!!) check out those oh-so-practical belts on the back. Hee!

Kriss Kross'll make ya JUMP JUMP

(Okay that reference is from something that came two years or so after this episode, but whatever. Slater was totally setting a trend!) I won't even start picking apart the girls' clothing choices, except to say that Kelly's outfit sort of looks like wallpaper you'd expect to see in a Hello Kitty store. Amirite?

Also I'm high on vicodin & benadryl. Which isn't high so much as it is feeling disconnected and EVERYTHING is funny.  ...  Oh, wait... Anyway, please forgive the utter silliness of this post.

Sweet Jesus I'm pretty sure I had 4 or 5 different versions of Jessie's exact outfit. And I might have owned Lisa's earrings. Ah, the 90's. They were a happy time. At least back then girls covered themselves. Good god I'm eighty.

Can I take this as a good sign that icons are afoot? I'm all excited.

Seriously. I could do a picspam on how we should exclude the early nineties from that whole "fashion comes back around" cycle. I mean, there's a shirt Jessie is wearing earlier in the episode that is horrendous (mostly denim, with the front top quarter made of, no lie, silk [I think]) which needs to never ever see the light of day again. I'm pretty sure I coveted it at the time, though. lol

And yep! This totally means that icons are afoot! Do you have any specific requests?

No specific requests. I'm just excited to see what you come up with!

Oh wait I just thought of one:

If you have the ep - maybe one of Jessie from the drug addiction episode where she's either shouting "I need to sing!" or "I'm so excited! I'm so excited!" :D

Okay, I have to fess up, I totally lost my sense of humor making this. It's f'ing Saved by the Bell, for pity's sake, but I was all, "Poor Jessie!" the whole time. And I'm afraid my out of place sympathy impacted the final result for this icon. :\ So, be honest--I'll give it another go if this is in any way a letdown.

Oh, no! Now I feel like an asshole for always finding this scene so funny.

This is perfect! Thank you for your efforts. Considering it ruined your day, I'm sorry!
ext_15429: (yay!)

I'm glad the icon works for you. Yay!

And for the record, it wasn't that bad. I just found it hard to try for funny when I was looking at the screencaps from that scene. (I was nearly crying from laughing at the "exercise video" portion of that episode! Put your mind to it/go for it/get down and break a sweat... :dies:) I'm sorry I gave the impression that it was more traumatic than it was. I mean, how unbalanced would I be if this had ruined my day? I don't think I'm that nuts, despite any rumors to the contrary! Anyway, really sorry for the confusion.

OMG, the pleats, the pleats!! Look away!

Wow, that Slater had the worst clothing on the show, for sure!

I will be perfectly content if pleats never come back in vogue. :D

For worst dressed, though (at least in this episode ["Driver's Ed"]) I think that has to go to this guy:

THE BELT, OMG.
